Welcome to St. Tammany Outreach for the Prevention of Suicide

We offer prevention, intervention, and post-vention programs in hopes of creating a suicide-safer community, and eliminating the stigma that surrounds suicide. If you are having thoughts of suicide, have lost someone to suicide, are worried about someone, or have survived an attempt, we are here to  help. We understand life can become overwhelming, difficult, and sometimes even scary, but it is important that you know you are not alone!

What We Do

STOPS provides support services to those who have experienced loss through suicide, both immediate and on-going, via our LOSS and SOS programs. We also provide training to educators, schools, corporations, community groups, first responders, mental health professionals, and everyone interested in listening.  Please click here for a full listing of our offerings.

Resources

STOPS works with both community partners and national organizations to bring information and resources that will benefit of our local community.  Please click here to learn more about suicide, what it looks like in St. Tammany Parish, and for a list of service providers that can help in a myriad of situations.

Who We Are

Since 2001, STOPS has been committed to providing community programs in an effort to lower the suicide rate in St. Tammany Parish, and to ameliorate the sting of the loss of a loved one to suicide. We have one of the highest suicide rates in the state, approximately 18% above the state average. Click here to meet our board members and staff.

Suicide is a serious thing. And if you know anyone who is suicidal, you need to get them help. No one should be in pain."
